For this week I was assigned to watch the TED Talk called Museums should honor the everyday not just the extraordinary by Ariana Curtis. The big idea in this talk is that representation matters even more specifically, women's representation as familiar and diverse in contrast to the extraordinary matters. Curtis uses her own experience to explain why this representation is so important. She identifies as Afro - Latinx and Female. She described how uncomfortable and suppressed in a way she feels when in the workplace because her coworkers are predominately white older men sometimes, she felt she needed bravery to be her authentic self. She says stories of exceptional women in history are limiting because they don't show the daily reality of women's history. I can relate to this message namely because at times I feel discouraged regarding my chosen career path of law. At times I feel like I don't fit the tough lawyer criteria or I'm not intelligent enough and I tell myself to be brave.
